The First Years True Fit Rebound Convertible Car Seat Review & {GIVEAWAY!!}

I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to introduce my readers to the new The First Years True Fit Rebound Convertible Car Seat. This car seat is amazing! My son looks so safe and comfortable when riding in his new chair.
With such a huge weight range (the largest I have seen), this seat is sure to accommodate your child for a very long time. This car seat has a weight capacity of 5-65 pounds!! While most people end up buying three car seats, including infant, toddler, and booster, you could buy just one chair for the duration your child is required to be in a car seat.
This convertible car seat comes with removable padding and headrest for infants to keep them snugly secure while they are so little. Once your child has outgrown the padding, you simply put it off.
What truly makes the True Fit Rebound Car Seat unique is the rebound bar that is flipped up when your child is rear facing to manage the rebound in the case of an accident. I love the idea of a bar absorbing crash energy, rather than my child and his chair. The rebound bar also puts your baby at an appropriate angle while rear facing.
When you convert your car seat to forward facing, the bar snaps down and with rubber bottoms, I have actually found this helps keep the seat securely in place.
Once your child is ready to be forward facing (this seat allows rear facing up to 35 lbs. with headrest!), you will need to make sure the padding is removed, the removable headrest is inserted, and that the rebound bar is clicked into the bottom of the car seat.
I am so impressed with the amount of side impact protection. Although this seat is quite large and heavy, it has extra large side wings and is fully lined in EPP foam, giving me confidence my child is so safe.
Making sure your car seat is at the appropriate angle for your child has never been easier. When rear facing, the ball should be in the '1' position and in forward facing, '1' or '2' positions are best.
One of my absolute favorite features of this car seat is the shoulder belt height adjustment which requires no threading. Because of this seats unique padding, all you have to do when you need to adjust your child's shoulder straps, is move up or down the yellow button (see above). The straps will automatically move to the appropriate places. Genius, huh?
Installation is super easy with built in lock-offs and a latch system for both rear and forward facing positions. This may be the best car seat ever.
Let's recap on the highlights from the Learning Curve site:
  • Received five-star Ease of Use government rating from NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration)
  • Features the Rebound Energy Management for use in rear-facing installation
  • Removable headrest for better rear-facing installation, can be used rear-facing with headrest for infants up to 35lbs.
  • Easy-to-read center angle indicator with two position settings
  • Easy adjust, no rethread harness for use to 65lbs.
  • Multi-position crotch strap adjustment
  • Easy-off pad snaps on and off with out rethreading harness
  • Color-coded belt paths for easy installation
  • Built-in lock offs for both rear- and forward-facing installation, external LATCH storage
  • Two-position recline for better installation
  • Deep side wings, side-impact tested to international standards
  • For use with children 5-65lbs and up to 50" tall
  • Weight: 19lbs
  • WIN IT!

The combination of our no-rethread harness and our easy-off pad makes clean-up a snap--literally, our pad snaps right off! Simply lift the center flap on the pad, unsnap the sides and clean up is as simple as can be. And once your pad is clean, it snaps back on in seconds hassle-free! amypugmire@live.com

    74. I learned that it received the 5-star rating for ease of use for these reasons:
      # the installation features to support how well the car seat (child restraint) fits into the automobile
      # how well the child is secured by the car seat (child restraint)
      # the quality and usefulness of the instructions
      # the quality and helpfulness of the labels in assisting the caregiver to be able to use the car seat (child restraint) properly!

      Thank you for the giveaway!

    87. I didn't know that the NHTSA awarded all of the True Fit Convertible Car Seats "Ease of Use" ratings and that the easier a car seat is to install, the less likely it is to be installed incorrectly. Which makes me wonder if my car seats are installed correctly.... hmmm.
