Frosty Festivities: Pulse Yoga review and {GIVEAWAY!!}

I am always looking for new ways to workout that will keep me motivated and interested enough to stick with it. I have tried yoga in the past and liked it but found some of the poses hard to do which made it hard to stick with. Pulse Yoga is a little different then your typical yoga postures.

(From the Pulse Yoga website):
"In addition to the free weights, I added micro movements that primarily target areas such as the gluteus muscles, abdominals, upper arms and lower back. These micro movements within the yoga postures are highly effective with results that are noticeable immediately."

Argie Ligeros, who is the founder of Pulse Yoga, walks you through all of the poses on the DVD, showing you exactly how to do all the poses. Here's a little bit about Argie (from the Pulse Yoga website): Argie opened the first Yoga College of India for Bikram Choudrury in 1978. She has taught over 15,000 yoga classes and has developed yoga programs for schools, corporations, hospitals and television. Argie became certified as a fitness instructor at The University of California, Los Angles and began applying yoga principles and postures to athletic training programs. She developed a fitness system called "Y4A" which she has taught to a range of athletes from the elite level Olympian to recreational weekend warrior.

I really liked the Pulse Yoga DVD and thought it was perfect for someone who is interested in a low impact workout that they can do in their home. One thing I especially liked was that alongside Argie, Prisca (Argie's business partner) is doing the modified version of the same pose. This is perfect for beginners like myself who aren't able to do the full pose. This way I can work my way up to doing what Argie is doing without feeling frustrated about not being able to keep up in the beginning. Another thing I liked was that there is a Pulse Yoga I, II, and III so once you have mastered the first one, you just move onto the next DVD for a new challenge. This way, you are always on your toes, getting the best workout you can.
If you are in the Vail, Colorado area, you can also have the opportunity to attend the Pulse Yoga workshop at the beginning of January. See all the details here.

  8. I think just starting with the Pulse Yoga I Basic would be perfect. I really enjoy doing things like Pilates (the workouts where I can stay home and feel good doing them but not over do it) and I think I would enjoy Pulse Yoga too.

  34. Basic 1 would be the best for me since I'm not very good at yoga or keeping up with the exercise in general but it would be some where to start and I do enjoy yoga.
