Frosty Festivities: This Little Piggy's Playhouse Review & {GIVEAWAY}

It’s Christmas time. You know how you scratch your head on Christmas morning because your children are playing more with the wrapping paper and boxes? You always joke and say “I’ll just get them a box next Christmas.” I’ve found the perfect “box.” It’s a cardboard playhouse by This Little Piggy’s House (cute name too!). Completely adorable. I had the opportunity to review the white house. It was only 7 pieces of cardboard to make the house and then 2 more pieces (one for the mailbox and one for the window box). It took only about 10 minutes to put together in midst of complete chaos. I thought it would be a fun project to put together with all my nephews, niece, and daughter over the Thanksgiving holiday at the Grandparent’s house. The ages were 9 months- 6 years old. All of them thought it was way cool. My 6 year old nephew and 2 year old niece could actually help put it together. All of them were excited to get in it. It took quite a beating especially with 2-3 kids in it all at the same time. I wouldn’t recommend introducing it to 4 kids on a sugar high! The doors are bent at the crease between the window and the edge of the door. I was trying to think how this could be made sturdier, but I think it’s just the nature of having the window in that piece of cardboard. I wouldn’t want to get rid of the cute window. I may reinforce the door with an extra piece of cardboard glued to the area that’s creased. The mailbox and window box didn’t stay on long due to all the rough usage. They are cute, but at this age my daughter doesn’t play with them. I think when she starts playing house and mommy she will adore the mail box and enjoy “watering” her flower box. After the “home’s” first rough night, we packed it up to bring back to our house and it was so easy to take down and put back up. We have kept it up in our living room and my daughter loves to crawl through it like a tunnel.

As I type this, she has dragged her favorite book inside and is going between looking at her book and opening and closing the doors. I can’t wait until my daughter gets a little older and we can “decorate” the house with paint and markers. My favorite feature is that it truly is a blank canvas. My second favorite feature: it’s eco-friendly. It is put together with no tools or nasty toxic glues and you can recycle it when the kids have “blown the house down.” These homes are made here in the USA and are reasonable priced: $199 for the “designer” hand-painted editions (Butterfly or Toyland) and only $49.99 for the Kraft or white playhouses. I recommend this gift for children 6 months to 6 years. I think the white or Kraft playhouse would be a perfect gift with a paint or marker set and then it could be a fun family activity together during those cold winter days to decorate their new home.
