Nosefrida Review & {GIVEAWAY}

I had the opportunity to review a Nosefrida. This nasal aspirator looks crazy and a little gross. Their tagline is “the snot sucker.” I was intrigued. I read more and learned it is completely hygienic due to the included filters that you change with each use. You cannot pass bacteria or viruses across the filter. I already knew that most of those blue bulb syringes shouldn’t be used as a nasal aspirator because they can go too far in baby’s nose which can hurt and scare baby, they can irritate the already sore mucous lining in the nose, the suction on these bulbs is usually too excessive for babies, and they are NOT sanitary. How do you REALLY clean out a bulb syringe? The Nosefrida is manufactured in Sweden with safe plastics ( BPA and phthalate-free) and is a regular household product there and in most European countries. The bulb aspirator is barely used in Sweden at all.

Nosefrida has a specially made tip that won’t allow it to go too far into the nose. Actually it just goes in enough to seal the nostril. This reduces the risk of injury with a squirmy child and increases tolerance because nothing is going up the child’s nose. The red mouth piece allowed me to control the suction. My daughter had some congestion and I used a couple squirts of saline and then the Nosefrida to clear her up before bed. My daughter didn’t react as dramatically as she does with the bulb syringe. I suspect it’s because she didn’t feel like she had a stick up her nose that was sucking her brain out :) The congestion was gone, she nursed better and slept well. When she was tucked in, I threw away the used filter and washed the separated parts in warm soapy water and allowed to air dry. So easy. You can rinse out the long plastic tubing with rubbing alcohol and then shake to dry. I think if my daughter had an infection I would use the alcohol or use my breast pump micro-sterilization bag after using the Nosefrida. According to the company, there’s no need to sterilize any of the parts but I am particular about these things.

BUY IT!
I think a Nosefrida needs to be in everyone’s baby first aid kit. Just like registering for a baby thermometer during pregnancy, a mom-to-be should add a Nosefrida to their registry. It makes a great shower gift or a stocking stuffer. To find a local retailer visit Nosefrida or order directly from their website. It retails for $15 and 20 hygiene filters are $2.50.
