Harrison, 17 Months
Too cute! Hi Harrison!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
We're an Army family and my best friend is moving away tomorrow- Sometimes i hate the Army! They are getting out and moving back to Maryland.
ReplyDeleteAwwww! I don't know anything about the army life.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Saying goodbye over and over gets old fast.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Canada citizen but currently living in California. Not much of an army life up in Canada.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I can imagine that would be so tough.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
It has it's perks- like not paying any hospital bills for giving birth.... =)
ReplyDeleteI hate goodbyes.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Yea? I was born in WAY northern MN, about 15 minutes from the border. What brought you to the US?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! Love Canada! Universal/free health care is the best!

ReplyDeleteHe's currently working on a movie called "Tangled" based on the story of Rapunzel.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
There will be a preview for Tangled before Toy Story 3 so keep your eyes out for it!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Oh wow, that's awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteWe will! I was thinking of taking Harrison to Toy Story 3- he's never been to the movies, but he loves TV so much I feel like he would sit through a whole movie, LOL.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty proud of him!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Haha! We're going to see a screening of Toy Story 3 Friday night of the studio lot. Can't wait to see it! Should be good!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
No doubt- that is a sweet job.
ReplyDeleteMy nephew, Micah, is a TV junkie! He would sit there for hours if my sister let him. Haha!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Oooh that's exciting!
ReplyDeleteSo does your hubby go overseas? Are you alone a lot?
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
It's crazy. He could seriously watch it all day long. I have to do no TV days or mornings, or else it gets out of control.
ReplyDeleteWhat are his favorite shows?
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
We did a 6 month deployment about a year ago- I moved back to MN to live in my parents since I had a baby and was pregnant. He travels a lot- he's traveling for 3 weeks of July- I'm scared to be alone with these boys (17 months and almost 6 months!) without my best friend!
ReplyDeleteMy nephew loves Handy Manny and Little Einsteins!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
He loves Sesame Street and Blue's Clues. Blue was one of his first words, lol. DVR is a lifesaver, cause at least I can control what and how much we watch.
ReplyDeleteI love the DVR!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
It's hard. It is good for our relationship though. We grew a lot stronger during the deployment. "Dear John" totally copied me- I would send him boxes of letters, one for each day that were numbered. =)
ReplyDeleteWe were very fortunate to only do 6 months though. I don't know how some woman do those 15 month deployments!
ReplyDeleteAwwww! So sweet! I'm sure he loved that.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I sure couldn't do it.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Is it really tough on the kids?
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
We are getting out in February, though. He's joining the National Guard, so he'll still deploy. But I said that's OK as long as I'm in a stable place with strong relationships. What I would hate is being somewhere new, then having him deploy.
ReplyDeleteMine are so little it doesn't affect them much.
ReplyDeleteI definitely don't want to move in with my parents again, lol. They were great and I appreciated all the help, but that was... interesting. =)
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to explain to me what it means to join the National Guard. We don't learn about the American army at all up in Canada although I hear a lot about it here.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Hahahaha! I know what you mean. I go home and stay with my parents for a month in the summer and that is truly interesting!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Are you able to Skype or video chat with hubby while he's gone?
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I suppose... =) It's pretty similar to being in the Army, except he gets a "regular" job. He'll go to an Army base one weekend a month to do training (He'll get paid pretty well for that) and then deploy like normal. His job will be legally held responsible for giving him his job back once he returns from a deployment.
ReplyDeleteYep, we did Skype. It makes a huge difference! And the Army had a reading program where he was that made DVD's of soldiers reading books, so we had a DVD of him reading to Harrison and we played that a lot for him.
ReplyDeleteHarrison cried pretty hard the first time Harold (hubby) tried to hold him after getting back. It was pretty sad. Harold left when he was 3 months and got back when he was 9 months.
ReplyDeleteOh ok. I see. So it's more stable for your family then?
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I follow via GFC!
ReplyDeletekelly@purplelemondesigns.com
That reading DVD idea is so sweet!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Exactly. We get to pick a place to live, and stay there. I think I need that- meeting new people is great, but I need some stability.

ReplyDeleteSo is your family still in Canada?
ReplyDeleteI totally agree.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Yes, everyone is still up in Canada. They all live in Ontario about an hour from Toronto.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
We'll settle back up in Canada in a few years. It's hard to be so far from family. We talk all the time but it would be nice to see my nephews more often.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Being far away from family is definitely hard.
ReplyDeleteThat will be good. Suppose that job is too good to pass up though, huh? =)
ReplyDeleteWe used to go to Winnipeg before we turned 21 to drink, lol.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! Too funny! I have cousins in Winnipeg.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Disney was definitely too good to pass up. A dream come true for us!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
How long has you been married?
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I am sure- how do you like California? I've only been once.
ReplyDeleteIt will be 2 years in August, how about you?
ReplyDeleteWe love living here! The weather is incredible and being so close to the beach is nice!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
2 years at the end of this month.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Were you married back home where your parent's live?
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Maybe you can just convince your family to move there? =)
ReplyDeleteDid you two meet in MN?
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I've been trying to convince everyone to move down but so far no luck. They love to come visit though!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
=) No, we're in Texas now, and we met here. We're not sure where we want to live after we get out- depends on jobs. Most likely Austin, TX (we're about an hour away now, in Fort hood)or Kansas City (where my hubby is from)
ReplyDeleteI follow!!
ReplyDeleteSo what brought you to Texas originally? School?
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I was a nanny- I found a great job and just kind of up and moved to Austin! I met my husband online.
ReplyDeleteMy hubby and I met in University back home.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I'm trying to convince my parents to move whereever we end up. =)

ReplyDeleteHow did you score The Bragging Mommy gig? LOL!

I was kind of hoping for twins
ReplyDeleteI got so super lucky! She just posted one day that she needed help, and I applied, and got picked! It's so awesome.
ReplyDeleteMy sister just called to tell me my littlest nephews new words. So adorable!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Aww... what are his new words?
ReplyDeleteK so I really hope one of us wins this with all this posting! LOL. I kind of forgot what I was doing, just having a great conversation! =)
ReplyDeleteHe's saying "all done"! So cute!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Aww... Harrison just learned to say that. He says "Gaaaaaaaaal Gone" =)
ReplyDeleteHe's babbling so much more lately!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Are you guys thinking of having kids?
ReplyDeleteHarrison is eating grapes right now, I'm so excited! He is the PICKIEST eater, even fresh fruit!! I'm like, who doesn't love fruit? But he's loving the grapes for some reason!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! 4 or 5 kids!
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I've been wanting them for years. He's not ready.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I would love to have them and raise them back home surrounded by family.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
I'm hoping to win this monitor for my sister-in-law whose monitor sucks.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Good luck~ =) haha, two is enough for me right now. I do want another someday, though. Word to the wise- get on birth control RIGHT AWAY after having a baby- we got pregnant when Harrison was 2 months old, and I was breastfeeding.
ReplyDeleteThen hopefully we'll get it back in a year or two when we have our first.
ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Yea being around family would be great. I know I could be a better mother sometimes if I got more breaks, and I hate that my kids are so far away from their grandparents!
ReplyDeleteHaha, good thinking on the monitor! =)
ReplyDeleteYea this monitor looks outrageously cool. I hate ours.
ReplyDeleteMy house looks like a toy store threw up in it right now.

ReplyDeleteHow was your video chat?
ReplyDeleteIt was great! I love seeing them and hearing Noah laugh and babble away!

ReplyDeleteandreapaetkau at gmail dot com
Ugh I do so much laundry- about 1 load a day.
